How it works.
EDHCapsul is a free app for Commander pods. One person starts a pod and adds the regulars by name. Somebody runs the table from their phone while you play. Afterwards, the night gets its own page.
The questions people actually ask are below, answered straight. If something isn't true yet, it says so.
Does my whole pod have to sign up?
No. Just one person: whoever's driving. Everybody else can be added by name and never touch it. They don't need an account, an app, or an opinion about any of this.
If they want their own page later, they claim it and everything they've already done is waiting there. Nothing is lost by them not bothering on session one.
What if we forget to use it?
Then log the session afterwards. Who played, what they piloted, who took it. About a minute, and it counts exactly the same as a game we watched happen live.
This matters more than it sounds. A record with holes in it is worth a lot less than a complete one, and no pod tracks every session perfectly from the start.
What is somebody actually doing during the game?
Tapping life totals, mostly. The same thing your table already does with a spindown or a life-counter app. Commander damage, whose turn it is, who died and to what, if you want that detail. It works on one shared device in the middle of the table or on everybody's own phone, and it's a web page, so a laptop on the TV works too.
The one thing worth doing that you're not used to: when something ridiculous happens, tap a note. Ten seconds at the table beats trying to remember it on Saturday, and it's what makes the write-up read like your pod instead of a scoreboard.
What do I actually get out of it?
A page for the night, and a record that keeps growing. Who beat whom, which deck is quietly running the table, how your Krenko does in this pod rather than against the whole internet.
Recaps are public by default, so somebody who wasn't there can read the whole night. Nothing writes them for you. A person titles the night and picks the game worth remembering, and anyone who played can add what they saw.
Every player and every deck gets a real address.
Your decks, your record, the pods you play in, on one page you can send to anyone. Each deck has its own page too: the list, the commander, how it has done at the table, and whatever you want to write about it.
You can be in more than one pod, and it's the same you in both: same decks, same history.
Do I have to rebuild my decks here?
No. Paste an Archidekt or EDHREC link and it pulls the list in. Moxfield blocks imports from other sites, so for a Moxfield deck use its Export button and paste the list. You can also build one here from scratch, or just name a commander and sort the rest out later. A deck with no list still plays fine and still keeps its record.
The rest of it.
Yes, all of it, and nothing is metered. The pricing page is honest about where that might eventually change.
Two to eight at a table. Commander, Duel, Two-Headed Giant, Star, Archenemy and Horde all work, and Planechase stacks on top of any of them. Emperor and a couple of others aren't available yet.
Really. The scheme deck, the planar die and the Horde's library run on the table itself: every phone sees them, every draw and roll is in the record. The five printed Archenemy decks are built in; your own scheme, planar and horde decks come from the deck editor.
No. It's optional, and it's just a browser window on a bigger screen. We didn't build a television app.
Pod pages and recaps are public by default, because being able to send someone the link is most of the point. Your account and your email are not. A pod owner can make the whole pod private. Your data has the details.
It's yours. Every deck comes out as a plain text list, and any member can download the whole pod as one file. Delete your account whenever you like.
